Host Nobelhart & SchmutzigBerlin (GER)
As we Germans say: “Wer nichts wird, wird Wirt” (Who doesn’t amount to anything, becomes a host)? As if! Whoever becomes a host has tons to tell. Not only about good food and drinks, the German food culture and regional cultivation…
Billy Wagner is the owner of the restaurant Nobelhart & Schmutzig (1 * Guide Michelin / 16 points in Gault Millau) in Berlin. He has been honored many times as the best sommelier in the country and one of the most opinionated hosts of Germany. Whether with or without shoe, no bottle with large content is safe from him. Only tequila he can not stand death.
Following a stop in Nuremberg at the “Essigbrätlein”, Dieter Kaufmann’s “Zur Traube” in Grevenbroich as well as Claudia Stern’s “Vintage” in Cologne and the “Monkey’s Plaza” in Düsseldorf, he came to Berlin in 2008 to work as a host and sommelier in the “Rutz”. Billy’s passion is not limited to wine made from grapes and other fruits, but includes good beer, high-quality single-origin coffees and teas, as well as the enjoyment of classic cocktails and artisan well-cooked food.
“The benefits of touching your food again.”
