New York City (USA)
Man? Woman? Both? Never mind! The world is colorful, the people too. Much more important: What are (still) classes and drawers for? And above all, how are we going to get rid of them?
Mykki Blanco, born Michael David Quattlebaum Jr., is a rapper, performance artist, poet and LGBTQ activist from New York City. As a globally successful artist, he is also performing here at the Open Source Festival this year and talking about his experiences as a “gender outlaw” in search of a place in the middle of the mainstream music and entertainment industry at the congress on the previous day. After Mykki ran away from home at 16, he lived in California and attended the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and the Parsons School of Design in New York City. As an artist, Mykki Blanco is inspired by the queercore and riot grrrl movement.
