Rapper, Author & Former CEO Rap am Mittwoch
With a panel discussion we would like to shed light on the disinvitation of Talib Kweli from the Open Source Festival in connection with the subject of BDS. Ben Salomo represents the position of the creative artist in the discussion.
Ben Salomo, born Jonathan Kalmanovich, is one of the best-known and most extraordinary representatives of German rap. Born in Israel, the musician is an avowed Jew and confidently uses his Jewish identity in his lyrics. He was founder, host and presenter of Rap am Mittwoch, Germany’s largest Battlerap event. In 2018 he announced the end of the event after having observed and experienced “a great deal of real anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia and misogyny”. At the beginning of 2019 he published his biography, thus initiating a debate about anti-Semitism in the German rap scene.
