Is it only art when something happens? Pics or it didn’t happen? Was there something and if so, why? London-Sindelfingen-Berlin – and back? About genuinely constructed situations and more.
Tino Sehgal is the son of an Indian father and a German mother and was born in London in 1976. He spent his childhood in Ratingen-Lintorf, later studied economics and dance in Berlin and Essen. Today Tino lives in Berlin and has two children. The special thing about Tino’s art is that it only takes shape when it meets the audience. Most of the time these are live situations, to whose emergence visitors can also contribute. Individual presentations of his works have taken place at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, the Venice Biennale, the documenta in Kassel and in Beijing and Rio de Janeiro.
